Authentic pub in a town that isn't very real
It doesn't take long to realize that Canmore's reason for being is to cater to tourists. Alot of places in town cater to that group. The Drake doesn't do that, their target is the local. As such it is a little rough around the edges but it has that great lived in pub feel that lets you know there have been many epic nights celebrated here.
The food is standard pub fare, the drinks are standard pub fare. There is usually a good special going on every night. The servers are real people. If you want upscale pretentiousness, you will be disappointed. If you want regular people to share a pint with, the Drake can't be beat.
